Description
Just yesterday I found out about this prehistoric felid (from the Pliocene of South America), a member of the same genus as today's cougar and yaguaroundi, but more closely related to the latter.
Its size was intermediate between the two (about 25-30 kilos) and thus could hunt much larger prey than modern yaguaroundi. By personal experience I know there's some really big yaguaroundi living in certain remote regions of Mexico- far bigger than what books would have you believe- so in reality, something similar to P. pumoides may still be alive today

Cool this was probably the ancestral form of the jaguarundi and the puma it probably ate pudu and deer I'm guessing.
