Neovenator

Un Neovenator comprueba la temperatura de su nido. Este doodle está inspirado en los recientes hallazgos que sugieren que los dinosaurios carnivoros tenian hocicos sumamente sensibles gracias a una red de nervios especiales; entre las funciones de dicha red nerviosa se ha sugerido tomar la temperatura de sus nidos, como hacen algunas aves, o realizar acciones muy delicadas tales como cargar a sus crías en la boca como los cocodrilos, entre otras. 
Aproveché para doodlear una idea que he tenido desde hace tiempo de cómo pudo haber sido el nido de un terópodo gigante que se ocupara de sus huevos; un montículo formado de tal modo que el animal pudiera echarse o reclinarse cómodamente en el. No es mas que un vuelo de la imaginación, pero me pareció que de ese modo 1) los huevos estarían lejos del alcance de pequeños predadores, y 2) cualquiera lo suficientemente valiente o imprudente para trepar, quedaría al nivel del hocico del dinosaurio. 

A Neovenator tests the temperature of its nest. Doodle inspired by the recent findings about carnivorous dinos having very sensitive snouts due to a network of special nerves; among its proposed uses are precisely measuring the temperature of their eggs, like birds do today with their beaks, or other delicate actions such as carrying their young in their mouths like crocodilians do, among others.
I thought I'd take the chance to illustrate a random idea I had about how the nest of some giant theropods may have been, provided they took some care of their young; a high mound built so that the adult could lay down or recline against it comfortably. Nothing more than a flight of fancy, but I thought, that would keep the eggs away from the reach of smaller predators, and any brave or foolish enough to climb the mound would put itself within reach of the dinosaur's jaws.
