So I was at my aunt's store the other day, doodling, and this guy comes to buy something (I don´t remember what, but most likely something poisonous, like beer or cigarettes or Coke XD).
He looks at my notebook and asks to see my doodles. I hand him the notebook. "Dinosaurs!" he says "Why dinosaurs? They're extinct!"
I'm like "Well, not all of them are extinct. Birds are dinosaurs and they're still around..."
"Yeah, but you're not drawing birds. All these dinosaurs are extinct"
"Well, yeah, that's true" I say as he keeps looking at the drawings.
"I don´t understand" he says "Why don´t you draw something else, like insects or something?"
"I prefer to take photographs of insects instead of drawing them" I reply.
"I'll tell you something kid. That you draw so many dinosaurs means that you're stuck living in the past, that's what I think". He returns me the notebook angrily, pays for his stuff and leaves.

And I'm like "WTF?" XD

So what do you think? Are we people who like to draw dinosaurs obsessed with the past? :D

If anything, you have a respect or fascination of what comes before- because after, all time is not constant but relative and subjective to belief. What do you believe?

If anything you should have immediately started drawing Extinct Insects like the ones from the Carboniferous Period like Arthropleura & Meganura, that would have probably shut him up because you could have just said well these insects are extinct too!

Of course not! It means we have a passion for the magnificent creatures that lived and passed on millions of years ago! It means we cherish the past and use it to help us learn about the present and the future!

In order to be obsessed with the past, it's gonna take more than drawing prehistory. Try dressing up in a medieval outfit and going to a renaissance festival and do what the people in that timeline did.

OK BRO- THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ALSO, ( ONLY THE DRAWINGS WERE OF SEVERE BLOODY WEREWOLVES & MONSTERS THAT WE LOVE ON HERE...) IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS DUDE HAS HAD SOME KIND OF ARTISTIC TRAUMA HIT HIM FROM SOMEONE ELSE- A DOWNGRADE, OR A CRITISISM THAT BURNED HIM TO THE GROUND, HE WENT ON A FLASHBACK- DON'T SWEAT IT AT ALL. BUT IF YOU SEE HIM AGAIN AT ALL, YOU MIGHT ASK HIM WHAT UP.

Considering that dinosaurs are a subject that changes with every new discovery that get's reanalyzed or dug up, it's more akin to depicting a changing past rather than repeatedly lamenting the past and refusing to accept new ideas. Which is roughly what the man accused you of.

A very odd scenario for the man to get angry over. It's not like insects are any more diverse to the common layman.
