JURASSIC PARK Los Archivos Perdidos
Psittacosaurus
Epoca: Cretaceo temprano, hace unos 125-100 millones de años
Distribucion: Asia
Longitud: 2.5 metros
Peso: 35 kilos
Dieta: Herbivoro

JURASSIC PARK The Lost Files
Psittacosaurus
Age: Early Cretaceous, 125-100 mya
Range: Asia
Length: 2.5 meters
Weight: 35 kgs
Diet: Herbivore
Psittacosaurus is an intelligent, social animal that lives in areas of thick jungle, although it likes clearings and zones with creeks and springs. These dinosaurs live in clans without a defined hierarchy; females lay their eggs in the same communal nest and all the adults help rearing the young. These are able to follow the adults few hours after their birth; a Psittacosaurus group with young is very noisy, for there are often over 50 young in each communal nest. During the night, they hide in burrows dug by the adults.
The strangest trait of the Psittacosaurus are undoubtely the long blue, green and purple filaments on its tail. They are actually very urticating deffensive weapons; for some reason, the blue "hairs" or saetae seem to be most toxic. Because of this trait, the Costa Rican keepers nicknamed this dinosaur the "perico medusa" or "perico quemador".
TRIVIA: When the Jurassic Park scientists first recreated Psittacosaurus they weren´t sure about what it was, so they named it "Microceratops calvus".
This dinosaur is mostly vegetarian, but according to some notes of its keepers, they are "willing to eat almost anything".
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS, KEEP YOUR DISTANCE

Literally, "burning parrot". But quemador may also mean "stinging"; some caterpillars here are known as "gusano quemador", "stinging or burning worm", that was my inspiration :>
