PELIGROSO
JURASSIC PARK The Lost Files Ichthyosaurus Age: Early Jurassic, 180 mya Range: Worldwide Length: 4 meters Weight: Up to 1 ton Diet: Carnivore Ichthyosaurus was one of the few marine reptiles cloned by InGen. It is also the one that is best adapted to a marine lifestyle. These are extremely fast and agile swimmers; they can reach speeds of almost 80 kms p/h and leap out of water in a spectacular way, although they don´t do this very often. They feed on fish and mollusks, and can dive to depths of 2000 meters to find them; their enormous eyes, the largest of any animal known, allow them to find prey even in the darkness of the deep. Their night vision is perhaps 20 times better than ours. On the other hand they are practically deaf, although they do seem to detect some kinds of vibrations. Ichthyoaurs live in groups with no hierarchy; they avoid competition with plesiosaurs by hunting in deeper waters. They produce hisses similar to those of crocodiles when angered, but other than that they are quite silent. Although they look like dolphins, Ichthyosaurs were described by Jurassic Park keepers as "more like sharks" regarding their personality. According to notes from the keeper who fed them, "they have incredible strenght and when in a bad mood, can be very aggressive". Two non provoked attacks have been confirmed, but in both cases the Ichthyosaur released its victim after a few moments. TRIVIA: During the 90s, in some Costa Rica beaches there were several sightings of "gelatinous monster chunks" washed ashore. Today it is believed that these "monster chunks" were actually chunks of semi-digested food vomited up by the Jurassic Park ichthyosaurs. DANGEROUS!
A common maultooth, in Jurassic Park's Lost Files? Sure didn't see that comin'. Hmm, one of the few marine reptiles... is there gonna be Elasmosaurus platyturus, Mosasaurus hoffmani, and/or Kronosaurus queenslandicus in the Lost Files?
Actually it is a known fact that at least certain species did give live birth because there is a fossilized Icthyosaur in the process of giving birth with the infant part way out of the mother. I think it's in a museum in Germany, but I could be wrong. Nice addition to the Lost files by the way.

Ah! these are one of my favourites I'd love to see the place where they were kept in Jurassic Park...I wonder if these dinosaurs were kept with any other sea life in their exhibit, despite their aggressiveness?

According to the Lost Files they were indeed kept with other two species of sea reptiles (they were not dinosaurs).
