An Eocene sea monster face off: the giant sea snake Palaeophis attacks an Otodus, a giant shark and the possible ancestor to Megalodon. Although the remains of both beasts are fragmentary, lengths of 5-10 meters for Palaeophis and 9 to 12 meters for Otodus have been suggested. This is gotta be one of the craziest scenes I've ever drawn! (Follow this link to see a giant prehistoric snake attacking a friggin dinosaur: [link])
I think the shark would win, frankly. A snake constricting a fish is pretty futile, you can't push all air out of the lungs when there are no lungs to begin with...Perhaps if it wrapped the gills?? Plus, snakes bodies tend to be easily injured, one could be bitten in half by the shark just as easily as a modern person can sever a snake in half with a well aimed shovel.
Well, aquatic snakes don´t really constrict fish, they sometimes do wrap around them but mostly to hold them still. Of course that would only work with a smaller fish and maybe they would have to be in the sea bottom, and I agree that a shark is too much. Don´t seek much realism in these scenes tho... its about the epicness of the concept rather than the likeliness :>
