Off with its head! by HodariNundu Off with its head! by HodariNundu

This drawing is inspired by the gruesome discovery that apparently T-Rex would rip Triceratops heads off when feeding to access to the neck flesh that would usually be blocked by the frill.
Many of the bite marks found by scientists could only be made after beheading the Triceratops.

Yeah, but how many T-Rexs were disemboweled by a quick thrust of a Triceratops twin lances?

Is it bad that even after not being a dinosaur fan for over 8 years anymore I instantly recognisd it was a T-rex by looking at his eyes?

This is one of the few things that make tyrannosaurs cool that nothing else has.

As said in description, the woulds on fossils could only be made after decapitation.

For like an informative comic strip. If I get permission I'll probably won't use it until about a month from now. After that though I'll upload the comic so you can read it. And I'll give you credit. :D

They didn't have to lift the heads up high and toss them over their own heads but could have simply did enough damage to sever the head and flick it out of the way.

Perhaps they pulled the head loose by grabbing and pulling the frill but pushed it free with their snout/head.

Brutal, yet efficient: 'tis Nature's way. If tyrannosaurs are ever proven to be pack hunters, they'd probably just dismember a large prey animal's carcass...or even start eating it while it was alive, painted dog-style.

This reminds me somewhat of an episode of "Jurassic Fight Club", in which T.rex's neck and jaws were aptly referred to as a "living steam shovel".

certainly explains the superabundant "head count" of fossil Trike skulls over fossils of the rest of the body.
when was this discovery made?

First there was the discovery that the reason why Deinocheirus' arms were the only thing to be found was because of a Tarbosaurus, and now T. rex has been found to rip the heads off of Triceratops. Are Tyrannosaurids basically trolls now?

Tres cosas.
