King of the Dead Forest by HodariNundu King of the Dead Forest by HodariNundu

A Torosaurus in a waterhole, unaware that a Tyrannosaurus is observing it, disguised amongst the dead trees.
This is an ink version of Tree-Rex:

My inspiration was one of my favorite birds, the potoo (Nyctibius) which spends the day disguised as a tree stump or broken branch.

That's both convenient and terrifying. King of the dinosaurs disguising himself as a tree to kill... But I thought the frill of Torosaurus was longer and narrower...

Tyrannosaurs using mimicry to fool prey... Fantastic idea. i really wonder if they really could do that. its an excellent way of getting close.

I really admire you for all your creativity and draw these thoughts in so awesome ways like this here. Every time I browse through your gallery I find tons of crazy but awesome therories about dinosaur behaviours and appearences. I wish I would come up that often with such great ideas like tree rex :D
One of the few I had was the breeding parasite nanotyrannus, and the idea came up after I browsed through your gallery and then watched dinosaur revolution; I just wanted to make one crazy-awesome idea like you always do. Keep up your fantastic work :D

For some reason, this reminds of the Anatotitan ambush scene from "Walking with Dinosaurs" except T-rex wearing camo XD

I can't tell if that's a covering of feathers or just markings on the skin/scales that make it looks like a tree.
Nice job!

Puede sener muy plausible que estos animales realmiente hubieran hecho este camuflage, pero creo que los raptores podrían acerlo también. Tengo que hacer un dibujo con inspiración en este.
