Death by Megalancosaur by HodariNundu Death by Megalancosaur by HodariNundu

I finally had some time to doodle something. A Megalancosaurus about to start devouring its prey (a small gliding reptile) after grabbing it from the air with its foreclaws.
This drawing is inspired by a new interpretation of Megalancosaurus not as a sort of Triassic chameleon as usual, but as a sort of reptilian praying mantis; it seems that it could adopt a tripod-like posture, grasping at branches with its prehensile tail and feet, freeing the foreclaws to capture its quarry. It had very powerful muscles in its shoulders and arms which allowed for fast and precise movements. And since large mantis today catch small birds sometimes, I thought it would be interesting to feed it an aereal reptile rather than a bug. :B
Megalancosaurus was up to 30 cms long and related to Drepanosaurus (the hallucination-inducing, scorpion-tailed reptile in The Lost Files: hodarinundu.deviantart.com/art…

Thanks :iconkrajax: for the info :B

mantis rather than chameleon, interesting idea, although I find all three very similar

One would think that this bad boy and the tree climbing raptoroid from Primeval season 4 were one and the same.
